About the author

Andrew J. Harris, author of Southern crime fiction and documentary nonfiction
Andrew J. Harris, at home in North Carolina

Andrew J. Harris lives in the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina and writes books set mostly in small Southern towns.

He writes crime novels and thrillers, love stories, a little fantasy, and nonfiction. His novels are about regular people in hard spots: family secrets, bad decisions, second chances, and the truth coming out whether anybody wants it to or not.

His nonfiction sticks to the facts. He lists his sources so you can look things up for yourself and make up your own mind.

He publishes his books on his own, and you can find them on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover.

His goal is simple: tell a good story, and use what the books earn to help other people.

Why the books get written

I write the story that keeps me up at night. Once I have an idea, I have to get it down before it is gone.

For years I thought of things that would have done well if I had written them down, and every time I told myself maybe later. Later is now. Nobody is promised tomorrow.

Ask yourself what you would do if tomorrow never came — if you woke up one morning and your life had already gone by before you got a chance to take hold of it. That is what happened to me. It is not happening again.

There will never be another day I take for granted, and never another night I lay my head on the pillow thinking I have wasted my life wishing it away. I love this life, and I want the world to know I will never wish another day of it away.

Thank you, Lord, for one more day.

Where to start

If you want the crime novels, start with Soft Enough to Cry — the first one — or Say It Back, which opens the Cade's Fork Saga. If you want the nonfiction, start with The Anunnaki Directive. If you would rather be asked a few questions, use the picker.
